Our Story

In 1993, I had been working first as a designer and then in management positions for multinational corporations for over 20 years. I realized that I wanted so much more than I was getting: control over my own time and effort; the opportunity to raise my family in a community I could really feel part of; and a way to put both my creative and management skills to use.

When a dealership for a large Canadian kitchen cabinet manufacturer became available, I jumped at it! From the start, I knew I wanted our work to be of impeccable standards, and so for the first few years I felt I had to do a lot myself — all the customer contact, design and project management, with help from outside carpenters for the actual installation.

The day we could hire Joanne Jibb, our first designer, was really exciting! Joanne is still with us, and we now have Shawn Jones and Kyle Davey our two full-time licensed carpenters, and Janet Hynes who manages our office and showroom. Our clients know how exacting Shawn and Kyle are — they are even more particular than I am and interested in doing nothing but their best work.

Kitchen Classics has allowed me to create a business that is an extension of my personal
philosophy: high standards for quality, very strong ethics in dealings with customers, employees and product, and giving our customers the best value for their investment.

This means we don’t provide the cheapest kitchens, but we do create kitchens that our clients see as the heart of their homes. I want every kitchen we design and install to be one our clients are proud of and that look great over the years of raising a family, welcoming guests and celebrating life’s milestones.
